Cambridge is really close to Stansted airport, i just took a train to go there. It is a place full of history and you can feel the studious and chill atmosphere. Do not hesitate to do a river tour. You will see the back of the universities with some informations from your guide and it worth it.
Posted: May 13, 2024I went to Cambridge to study for a week. it was my first trip abroad and I was alone, as an anxious person I can say that Cambridge is safe, people are helpful and kind. it is a very popular place for tourists and students, full of parks and it's quite clean. it's easy to find your way around (except for the parks... they're all similar and I always got lost), I used the bus to move from one side of the city to the other, but it's also doable on foot, however the ticket didn't cost much. I was there to study in the morning, so I had breakfast and then went to class, during the afternoon I loved going to the bookshop (Waterstones) and ate at Byron's (the best burgers I've ever eaten). I often went to the park or visited nearby towns (for example, I saw Shakespeare's house). I had a budget of £100, and I came home with some left over. It's a truly beautiful place, I fell in love with it.
Posted: January 19, 2024Experienced: June, 2023The university has a vibe of dignity. There was a former student sharing her studying experience and the history behind each of the school architecture, which was an unforgettable experience. I'm glad that I chose to go to Cambridge.
Posted: December 28, 2023Experienced: December, 2023Cambridge is a lovely and friendly city, and considered safe for solo traveler, groups, student and female solo travellers. I guess it is one of the safest living cities in the UK. A lot of people walk or bike around the neighbourhood.

Get a bike- you feel much safer. I wouldn’t walk through parks at night but I often cycle. Ive seen men trying to take extremely drunk women home from wetherspoons and that does sort of worry me. But it is a fairly young city so there are people around. I grew up quite centrally and our neighbour had her neck slashed open at 5pm one dark December night, at the bottom of our road. Theres quite a lot of drug users around which can make it feel unsafe in places. But generally it feels ok.
